A holder is a wallet with a balance. A position is a holder the engine has seen enter. The two are not the same: a wallet that received tokens by transfer rather than by buying holds the coin but has no position, and if it sells, it closes nothing and is paid nothing. The state column is the engine's record of what it has seen a wallet do on the market, and it is the only thing that decides whether that wallet's exit will be paid.
